The Advanced Manufacturing CRC in conjunction with RMIT University and Bio21 Cluster, are holding a workshop to inform Australian SME’s on the exciting new possibilities in the Medical Technologies space via Additive Manufacturing.  Additive Manufacturing or 3D printing is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital model.

The National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) has recently appointed Simon Michnowicz as its High Performance Computing Application Specialist to assist Victorian researchers (both new and existing) engage with NCI and the facilities. Simon's aim is to increase the usage and usefulness of the NCI to Victorian researchers, and to be a local resource for those using NCI systems.

Applications for the James Tizard Memorial Prize close on 16 December 2011. The prize is open to Australian researchers best able to demonstrate the role played by eResearch infrastructure in the success of their research endeavours. To be eligible, the researcher must be affiliated with an Australian university or publicly funded research organisation.

The prize comprises a cash payment of $5000 for use towards the costs associated with attending a future overseas conference.

The final HPC Forum for 2011 will be held on 8 December at 3pm in eZone Theatre 103 - Architecture Building.

The next Information Management Advisory Service (IMAS) Forum, on 24 November, will focus on how to get the most from your digital assets.

Information Technology Services advises that GenStat is available as a trial until April 30 2012.

The next HPC Forum will be held on Thursday 3 November and will discuss "High Performance Computing: what's available and how do you get access?"
