April meeting agenda

Topics covered will be suitable for both beginners and advanced cloud users, and will include:

Status update on Research Cloud and recent cloud workshops
Presented by Tom Fifield and Clint Walsh [ITS Research Services]
Case study: Porting CloudMan to the NeCTAR Research Cloud
Presented by Enis Afgan [Life Sciences Computation Initiative & Centre for Informatics and Computing at RBI in Zagreb, Croatia].
CloudMan is a platform for scalable tool execution, data integration, and sharing that operates across multiple clouds, making it possible to easily scale the execution of jobs, customize individual environments, and share those.
Enis is a lead on the CloudMan and Galaxy on the Cloud projects.   These projects deliver complete bioinformatics analysis environments on cloud resources and enable domain scientists to perform needed computation without restrictions of locally available compute resources.
Research Cloud Demonstration: SSH, SCP and X11 Forwarding for Mac and Windows
Presented by Bernard Meade [ITS Research Services]

There will be time for questions and answers, followed by afternoon tea

The meeting is open to anyone who is interested in learning about the NeCTAR Research Cloud Computing Service and how it can be used in research.

Location: Old Arts, Room 124 (first floor).

No RSVP is required. If you want further information, please send an email to Forum Coordinator Sara Ogston sogston@unimelb.edu.au.
